View from the living room floor

The living room skylights were installed today, and to get them both in the photo, I had to lie down on the dusty floor. The things I do for you!

The manifold (tentacle-like junction for our heating pipes) was also installed today, earlier than expected! This is good news, because we need it to start the "shock heating" process for the floors. Ah, the floors. That's a whole other entry, friends. Stay tuned.

Will the beams be exposed in the living room? That'd be a cool look. Forward ho indeed.

No, we're covering the beams over with 1/4-inch rectangular maple sheets, stained in the same colour as the stair treads and handrail (a medium-toned warm brown). We really like the look of exposed wood beams, but it wouldn't suit the style of this house. All of our finishes are pretty modern looking, and the cottagey-feel of a beam ceiling would be a little odd.

Finally no more leaks eh? They all look pretty snazzy to me.
